Scale Ireland hosted a special webinar to help explain the impact of the Digital Services Act on start-ups. We were delighted to be joined by Robert Troy, Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment & Claire Morrissey, Head of Maples and Calder's Data, Commercial & Technology Team.
The European Commission published the Digital Services Act in December 2020. The DSA will regulate the obligations of digital services that act as intermediaries in their role of connecting consumers with goods, services, and content. It will modernise the liability regime for intermediate service providers (“ISP”), increase transparency obligations and regulatory oversight over online platforms, and provide for substantial fines.
He was joined by a panel of start-up representatives at different stages in their journey, including Eileen O’Mara, Go-To-Market Lead of EMEA at Stripe, John Purdy, Co-Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Ergo, & Sohini De, Founder & CEO of Empeal.

Mark has over 20 years of experience in sales, technology, payments and media, building and leading multi-market teams. Based in Dublin, Mark works with start-ups across Europe, the Middle East and Africa to ensure they make the most of Stripe's services.
He will g a presentation on 'Go-to-Market Strategies for Start-ups', with a focus on data-driven decision making, building a sales culture and rewarding talent. He was joined by Liz Fulham, CEO of SalesOptimize and Brian Caulfield, Chair of Scale Ireland.

The theme of the event was #WomenRising and it was supported by InterTradeIreland.
